CALLING
ALL EXILED WRITERS!
Are you a writer or
journalist
living in exile in
Canada?
Did you have to leave your
homeland because you were not able to write freely? If so, then PEN Canada
is interested in hearing from you. We are an independent, not-for-profit
organization that works to defend the right to freedom of expression both
in Canada and around the world. Here in Canada, we collaborate with many
exiled writers so that the censorship to which they were subject back home
does not continue in another form in their adopted land.
We want to ensure that
your voices are heard and your words read. To contact us, please write
to David Cozac at PEN Canada (dcozac@pencanadaca). To find out more
about our Writers in Exile program, please visit our Web site at www.pencanada.ca.
About PEN Canada:
PEN Canada is committed
to defending freedom of opinion and the peaceable expression of such opinion,
as guaranteed by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
It campaigns on behalf of writers around the world persecuted for the peaceful
expression of their thoughts. In Canada, it supports the right to freedom
of expression as enshrined in Section 2 (b) of the Charter of Rights and
Freedoms.
