My prayers and thoughts are with the people of South and South East Asia and their families as they are overcoming this catastrophic earthquake. I hope God gives them the strength they need in this battle of man against nature. As we all know, thousands of innocent people were affected as a result of this earthquake and after maths. I was born in Greece, a country that experiences many natural catastrophes and, I have personally experienced the tragedy of one. I am now asking all Canadians to reach to out to our fellow Canadians from the devastated region in their time of need.
 
There will be an urgent meeting on Thursday December 30th at 6:00 P.M. St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Basement 3840 Finch Ave East (Between Finch and Kennedy) Scarborough Ontario to discuss Immigration Emergencies in Sri Lanka All are invited.
 
The Manager of Immigration in Sri Lanka has advised me that they have instituted adhoc measures to expedite family class immigration cases on humanitarian and compassionate grounds and I quote: 
 
"In the interim we plan to institute ad hoc measures to facilitate family reunification case processing to the extent possible, particularly for our highest priority and most affected family reunification cases. We will naturally try to deal as sympathetically as possible with deserving visitor cases in accordance with their individual circumstances. But you should be aware that both communications and transportation between Colombo and affected coastal areas remain very difficult in the days
immediately following this tragedy. 
 
If you are aware of individual cases of crisis survivors with close family members in Canada I would urge you to send us any information you have to assist us in examining what is possible to assist them. "
