TRO appeals for funds to help
people displaced in Trincomalee!

Recent
events in Trincomalee District in Eastern Sri Lanka are too tragic
and well known to most of you. Over 40,000 civilians - Tamils and
Muslims have been rendered refugees by the continued shelling and
aerial bombardments. 10,000 families are destitute and that it
costs US$10,000 dollars daily to provide for them.
Fifteen aid workers working for Action Contre la Faim have been murdered in point blank range. Seven TRO employees kidnapped six months ago have not been heard from yet.
TRO has been trying to provide food, medicines and shelter to the civilians under these trying circumstances - www.tamilnet.com
In the absence of governmental help, TRO has had to provide aid to the civilian population, through multiple calamities over the years including the Tsunami of December 2004. In Sri Lanka, TRO has won many accolades for efficient utilization of funds and provision of services to the displaced person, with limited resources.
TRO funds are depleted and this is an urgent appeal to our well wishers to contribute whatever you can in this difficult time. TRO is an approved charity in USA, 501 (c) 3 Organization.. Independent evaluator of charities, in USA, Charity Navigator has given highest four-star rating to TRO for second consecutive year for sound fiscal management. All our overhead is paid for by our Board of Directors and 100% of your contribution will be sent to TRO in Sri Lanka to help in their life saving efforts.
The need is great and I appeal to you once again, to donate any possible amount to ease the plight of the latest group of Internally Displaced Persons. All donations will be appreciated and gratefully acknowledged.
TRO is taking care of forty thousand IDPs in Trincomalee district alone. Food and water has been provided by the TRO to the IDPs since August 01, 2006. Thousands more are streaming to areas that TRO runs refugee camps because of continued fighting.
